Joseph Kamaru
Berlin-based sound artist KMRU (Joseph Kamaru – Nairobi, Kenya) works with field recordings, ambient sound, and experimental techniques to explore listening cultures beyond dominant perceptual norms. He produces compositions, installations, and performances internationally and has released multiple albums, including with his own label, OFNOT.
An album and radiophonic project that critically engages with the colonial history of sound archives, drawing on recordings from the repatriated collections of the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren.
