Ariane Papillon
Ariane Papillon is a film director and researcher in Film and Media Studies. In 2024, she completed her PhD at Paris 8 University under the supervision of Dork Zabunyan, with a dissertation entitled Sharing the Mise-en-scène: Delegating the Camera to Documentary Subjects in Contemporary Cinema. She directed the feature-length documentary Girls Through the Looking Glass / À nos amies (Vents Contraires, 2024), a film shot entirely on smartphones by four teenage girls. In 2025, she was an artist-in-residence with Ateliers Médicis. She is currently a Temporary Teaching and Research Associate in the Film Department at Gustave Eiffel University in Champs-sur-Marne, France.
