Ricardo Ruales Eguiguren was born in Quito, Ecuador. He directed the short documentary The Silence of Time, which participated in several festivals around the world. Since 2017, he has been a member of INCUBADORA S.A. The Broken R is his first feature documentary, made with the support of funds from Ecuador, Ibermedia, Sundance, and the IDFA Bertha Fund. Ricardo holds a Master’s degree in Filmmaking from Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (San Sebastián Film School).
