Lindsay Aksarniq McIntyre

Lindsay McIntyre is a process-based Inuk filmmaker. Rooted in analogue processes, she employs handmade emulsions and deep material research in her autoethnographic explorations, forging visceral, place-based connections. She has created more than 45 films and several expanded cinema performances. Her short NIGIQTUQ ᓂᒋᖅᑐᖅ garnered the Oscar-qualifying Best Short Award at imagineNATIVE, and her most recent film, Tuktuit:Caribou, which screened at Sundance, Hotdocs, RIDM, and DOXA (Best Short Documentary), considers the enduring connections between caribou, lichens and Inuit, and uses caribou-gelatin handmade emulsion. A fellow of Forge Project, Sundance, MacDowell, and COUSIN, Lindsay’s films have screened around the world and can be found in several permanent collections.

Interconnected relationships between the Inuit, caribou, and lichen challenges the boundaries between human, animal, land, and image-making.
