Benjamin Christensen

Benjamin Christensen (1879–1959) was a Danish filmmaker and actor known for his exploration of the macabre and leaving a lasting influence on what would become the horror genre. His films often examined the boundary between rationality and fear, superstition and the supernatural. Christensen worked in both European and Hollywood cinema, and was the manager of a Copenhagen motion-picture theatre for the last 17 years of his life.
