Chantal Akerman (1950–2015, Brussels/Paris) was a Belgian filmmaker, installation artist and writer whose radical feminist and minimalist approach reshaped cinema. Over forty films and installations defined a legacy of formal rigor, emotional depth and feminist poetics.
